New figure time! and another surprise.

So about two weeks ago I went up to asheville to spend the night at a friends house for his birthday but I had to head to the campus post office to pick up a package I ordered which contained two awesome things.

First up Kotobukiya's snap together model of the R-1 from Super Robot Taisen Original Generation. It's my favorite mech in the game due to its well rounded stats, kick ass special move, ability to transform in to a plane and its pilot is a mecha otaku.

Building it was a pretty good challenge. For being a 1/144 it has some fairly complicated figurations of its joints, double jointed knees for it's transformation and a hinged chest cockpit also for the transformation. As shown in the pictures this model is unpainted and the color is practicly perfect already. The only color missing are some grey spots on the shoulders and knees.

It's got a pretty good amount of accessories with which to equip it with. It's got a boosted rifle as currently shown in hand, two G-Revolvers holstered at it's hips and two "steel" knives. The hands are a bit iffy. It has two pairs of hands. One set are closed fists and the other set have open slots for which to hold weapons. It's a chore to put some weapons in the open hands as you have to pop the white part of the hand and place the weapon in it and place the white part back. The G-Revolvers have a little irk of there own. When placed in the hands it's hard to place it back on the arm as the revolver gets stuck on the wrist guard on the arm.

Its R-Jet mode is almost cooler than its robot mode. It's not a natural transformation as you have to exchange a part here and there. The base confuses me as there is no real place to attach the jet to it. So my only option is to just position and balance it on so it won't fall off.

After the construction and a few initial poses it came time to introduce it to the other plastic residents of my dresser top.
He was a bit intemedaited by Megaman's size but Megaman was also jealous of R-1's colors and abilities.

He was less intimedated by Leonardo but couldn't help but feel that his look was always saying "Don't take me on unless you want to lose an arm."

Then he met everyone's favorite buster machine and couldn't help but follow along with her pose.

So this model has been very rewarding in it's construction and as a great display peice. Oh and the other item that was in my package just so happened to be relevant to the last picture.
THIS IS THE BEST SHIRT EVAR!!! that is all.

Dispute - DB Says: NO YouTube!

Just relaying information here. I've mentioned this before, and won't push it on WoW. (I'm also not dressing it up or making this post a 'nice' argument. It will hopefully be a while before I feel I have to waste time doing that for the topic of Fansubs on YouTube again.)

YouTube and every other "video sharing site" sucks, and WE DO NOT WANT to see our work uploaded there and turned into low-quality WMV / Flash Video. You are not allowed to upload our work to any video sharing site.

By Uploading DB's fansubs to 'video-sharing' sites:

  • You violate these sites' terms of service
(you are not the copyright holder of said materials)

  • You open these sites up to possible legal liability for the hosting of copyright infringing materials.

  • It decreases the viewing quality of episodes significantly.
"we feel that allowing people to continue to claim that this is our work is offensive"

  • I'd like to point out: If YOU UPLOAD FANSUBS, and Fansubing Groups get in trouble... NO MORE FANSUBS FOR YOU!

Think about it, and don't complain that you can't watch fansubs unless they are on YouTube. Its not supposed to be 'too easy'. Even though currently it still is.. YouTube or no YouTube.)

we need YOUR help to stop our work from appearing on YouTube

They've released the busy beavers and rabid badgers!

Please Note: If you are going to join them, don't remove AMVs or other fan created content.

Full News Release by DB

I just saw 10 sec videos on YouTube that advertise 3rd party sites to download DB's episodes... that may not be an issue, but they rename the files, and may start charging a fee to support 'bandwidth costs'. :/ While that’s probably ok, I'm not sure it should be advertised on YouTube. (Even so, its a start.)

While I did find there are still quite a few of DB's subs online (on YouTube at least), I also found things like this:

Bleach: I want to be cut by the zanpakutou of Love
(Bleach Love simulation!) -_-;;;

Plan A:

Plan B
(aka. Japanese pop/sub culture has made us poor):

Once in costume, take a road trip to the Local Zoo and run wild!
Or maybe say hello to the cast of Honey & Clover?

Try Twister in the Lion's den using the 'What Would Bacon Do' spin folder. Or maybe Convert them to Christianity like the Taipei Zoo Man.

Also, why not blast this song: (click the play button)

(ok, it fits well, but don't listen past the first 10 bacons, its not that great)

I saw the Tuxedo and couldn't resist a quick joke.
I just hope I don't dream of Jin Roh tonight. >_<

Celebrate April 1st with Google!

Google TiSP
"Dark porcelain" project offers free in-home wireless broadband service

(Check that Link before Continuing!)

BUT! Make sure you read the fine lines:
  • You are out of luck if you have a septic system.
  • The 'Trickle' service is free, but 'The #2' and the 'Royal Flush' services are 9.95 and 24.95 a month
Why is TiSP in beta?
When things go wrong with TiSP, they go very, very wrong. Let's leave it at that.
>_<

Make sure you check the links on that page instalation procedure (must see!), the FAQ, and the press release.

Also, Don't miss Google's Gmail Paper (click 'Learn more about Gmail Paper' for details!).

You'll have to excuse me, its late and I'm feeling lazy so the post is lacking in extra content and sugar coating for now.
