New figure time! and another surprise.
So about two weeks ago I went up to asheville to spend the night at a friends house for his birthday but I had to head to the campus post office to pick up a package I ordered which contained two awesome things.
First up Kotobukiya's snap together model of the R-1 from Super Robot Taisen Original Generation. It's my favorite mech in the game due to its well rounded stats, kick ass special move, ability to transform in to a plane and its pilot is a mecha otaku.
Building it was a pretty good challenge. For being a 1/144 it has some fairly complicated figurations of its joints, double jointed knees for it's transformation and a hinged chest cockpit also for the transformation. As shown in the pictures this model is unpainted and the color is practicly perfect already. The only color missing are some grey spots on the shoulders and knees.
It's got a pretty good amount of accessories with which to equip it with. It's got a boosted rifle as currently shown in hand, two G-Revolvers holstered at it's hips and two "steel" knives. The hands are a bit iffy. It has two pairs of hands. One set are closed fists and the other set have open slots for which to hold weapons. It's a chore to put some weapons in the open hands as you have to pop the white part of the hand and place the weapon in it and place the white part back. The G-Revolvers have a little irk of there own. When placed in the hands it's hard to place it back on the arm as the revolver gets stuck on the wrist guard on the arm.
Its R-Jet mode is almost cooler than its robot mode. It's not a natural transformation as you have to exchange a part here and there. The base confuses me as there is no real place to attach the jet to it. So my only option is to just position and balance it on so it won't fall off.
After the construction and a few initial poses it came time to introduce it to the other plastic residents of my dresser top.
He was a bit intemedaited by Megaman's size but Megaman was also jealous of R-1's colors and abilities.
He was less intimedated by Leonardo but couldn't help but feel that his look was always saying "Don't take me on unless you want to lose an arm."
Then he met everyone's favorite buster machine and couldn't help but follow along with her pose.
So this model has been very rewarding in it's construction and as a great display peice. Oh and the other item that was in my package just so happened to be relevant to the last picture.
THIS IS THE BEST SHIRT EVAR!!! that is all.
