    ????
    - ADV Reaches Critical Mass due to their Logic that:
    Consumers want popular media.
Consumers want it even more if we own it and do not release it.
    Consumers now want ADV.
Thus, ADV is now 'worth more'.
Logic: Increase in Consumer demand of ADV is now directly proportional to increase in stalled product lines and indefinite release dates. Beautiful!

    ?????????
ADV Releases Yotsubato and Gunslinger Girl, maybe not by will, but as cinders of the projects spew from the explosion. (Maybe someone will pick up the license after that?)

    PROFFIT!

    Disclaimer:
Ok, that’s a bit too extreme.
I don't seriously mean to slander ADV, but I do know I want to buy more of their manga, and not the shows they are currently acquiring.
In reality, they probably see more money in new anime sales then in manga. T_T Which I wouldn't doubt, but I can also say that I know plenty of people that are not going to be buying any of the recent titles. (By word of mouth and by unofficial anime ratings)
I've bought most of the titles I wanted already, and I'm not going to buy things I don't enjoy while I wait.

I couldn't resist. (This is just immature complaining that should not at all be taken seriously. As such, I hope it looks absurd.)

  • yeaaah...

Honestly its really a love hate relationship. ADV seems to acquire titles all over the charts.

The good thing about that is that these titles that may not be picked up by other companies DO get licensed, and do make it outside of Japan.

The downside is that you can't have every title be 'amazing'. That’s too darn expensive and not exactly 'easy' statistically anyway. (Especially when trying to satisfy a variety of target audiences.)

The main drag is their Manga division. I've seen many people 'whining' about stalled manga. While: 'I want the ones I like'... I do understand it doesn't work that way. Still, no reason why that can't be rather disappointing. T_T

I could say I want them to divert their resources and work on finishing their manga, but then we might miss out on recent titles such as Le Chevalier. Ideally they could take on less 'not so good' titles and spend more on manga, but that 'request' is not 'that simple'. (Not that I support/encourage it, but maybe there’s the chance that they will pass the licenses over to someone else?)

At least Tokyopop took over ’Aria’. I could see how ’Gunslinger Girl’ wouldn't be a likely candidate for such a move by any company (unfortunately), but if ‘Yotsubato’ falls behind... we can only hope.

We’ll just have to wait until they catch back up and can afford_to/justify support for ‘less profitable’ projects.

As for importing.. I'll get my double stick tape or maybe just the exacto knife ready and we can start splicing in translations for convenience sake. ^_~
(I wonder if it made it to china.. I might have an easier time translating that >_< )
I have found myself looking at the Japanese covers on more then one occasion.
